Anatomy of Breath | 5:30-7:30pm
In this workshop, David will take you on a journey through the anatomy of your breath. From the diaphragm to the abdomen, and pelvic floor. It’s not as simple or limited as inhale and exhale. The breath can be used as a link between mind & body through the nervous system. Manipulation and control of the breath can have an impact on the reactivity or calmness you hold in your nervous system.
We’ll shift our understanding from the lungs and diaphragm and psoas as individual parts and pieces to the breathing system as a whole.
This workshop gives participants an opportunity to understand anatomical concepts and principles that apply directly to breathing on and off the yoga mat.

Three Anatomical Points to and Effortless Practice | 11:00-1:00pm
After teaching anatomy and yoga for nearly twenty years, the core of movement in practice can be brought back to three anatomical points that direct you toward the core of the body. This workshop is about simplifying the complexity of where to practice from anatomically.
By focusing on these three anatomical points, you will develop safe and effective movement that becomes expansive and effortless. It sounds too good to be true, but this really is the basis of understanding the physical component of bandhas in your yoga practice.
Come along and experience a truly new way to move in your body and take your practice to the next level.
Ashtanga Yoga Anatomy | 2:00-4:00pm
In this workshop, we will work with and talk about those pieces of anatomy that feed doing practice correctly. What “correctly” is can certainly be debated. What would Guruji mean by correctly? I think he would mean effort and attention on the core elements of the practice: breath, bandha, and dristhi (tristana), while practicing asana.
There are anatomical components that support breath, bandha and even dristi. Without these elements, how can one truly develop in the practice? Understanding these components anatomically will give our mind a new way to envision them. The more depth of understanding we have of the core elements of the practice, the more we can trust the practice in the moment.
In addition, we can use physical technique, supported by anatomical understanding, to help get us to a more comfortable place in the asana. This allows for better breath and bandha.
We will look at key anatomical principles like: anatomy of bandhas, the anatomical relationship between asanas, the anatomy of lift up - jump back, the anatomy of the knee and techniques of backbending.

Ashtanga Yoga Technieques | 11:00-1:00pm
Everyone has postures that challenge them. Many students have difficulties in certain sections of practice, particularly with postures such as marichyasana D, supta kurmasana, lotus, and backbending.
Awareness of the structure of the anatomy, as well as knowledge of the meaning of these postures, can help us move forward in a safe and intelligent way. When we’re informed in this way, we keep the poses in context. We understand why we need to do them, what they represent to us personally, and what purpose they have within the system. This helps us avoid injuries and stay motivated to work on challenging postures.
This workshop will have some theoretical components as well as many practical techniques and exercises to work on the more difficult parts of practice.
*Mysore Practice is limited to 12 people per session. Time will be split from 7:30-9:00am and 9:00am-10:30am.
