The original power yoga class....Ashtanga. This class will be led by Stacy Ingham, Owner/Director of Ashtanga Yoga School of Raleigh.
Ashtanga yoga is a complete yoga method based on Bhakti (devotion) to a breathing and movement system called vinyasa. Through Ashtanga yoga you come to realize your Self and your purpose by learning to systematically combine several internal and external techniques including: breathing, internal locks, meditation, posture, conscious movement and gazing. When these basic techniques are applied with discipline, subtlety and skill, they are excellent tools for becoming physically and mentally strong and perceptive.
Beginning with a short discussion on the origins and practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Stacy will take students through a practice representative of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, and appropriate for the group in attendance. She'll incorporate the 5 key elements that make Ashtanga yoga a unique, and potentially transformative practice: breath, bandhas, drishti, vinyasa and asana.
